Validation Testing
Confirm Your Water Safety Program Is Working
Testing is the only way to verify that your water management plan and control measures are doing their job. Watertech of America provides comprehensive water testing services through CDC ELITE-certified laboratories to give your facility reliable, defensible results.
Validation testing is the term used in water safety plans and by regulatory bodies to describe the routine sampling and analysis that confirms your water system is under control. Whether you are maintaining an ongoing water management program or responding to a specific concern, we provide the testing you need.
Legionella Testing
Legionella testing is the cornerstone of any water safety validation program. Watertech tests for Legionella species and serogroups to give your facility a complete picture of what is present in your water system, not just a positive or negative result.
We offer two methods of Legionella detection:
Legionella Culture: The traditional method that grows bacteria from a water sample to identify and quantify viable Legionella organisms. Culture results provide species and serogroup identification, which is critical for case investigations and ongoing risk assessment.
Legionella qPCR: A rapid molecular method that detects Legionella DNA in water samples. qPCR delivers faster results than culture and is useful for screening and trending, though it does not distinguish between live and dead organisms.
All Legionella testing is processed through CDC ELITE-certified laboratories.
Additional Water Quality Testing
Beyond Legionella, Watertech provides testing for a full range of waterborne contaminants and indicators relevant to your facility’s compliance and safety programs.
Routine Indicators
- Total coliform
- coli
- Heterotrophic plate count (HPC)
CMS Waterborne Pathogen Screen
A broader screening panel aligned with CMS requirements for healthcare facilities, covering multiple waterborne organisms of concern beyond Legionella alone.
ASHRAE Standard 191 (ST-108) Testing
ST-108 testing is a comprehensive sampling and analysis protocol for building water systems. This is a detailed assessment that goes beyond routine sampling and is increasingly referenced in water management plan requirements.
Additional Organisms and Parameters
- Pseudomonas
- Nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM)
- Endotoxin
- Lead and copper
Post-Disinfection Verification
After any new building piping disinfection, hyperchlorination, or corrective action, verification testing is required to confirm the system is safe before it returns to normal use. Watertech handles both the disinfection and the follow-up testing so you have a single point of accountability from start to finish.
